Is Sky subscription allowed outside the UK?
No its not. Sky have hundreds of thousands of Expat viewers and make lots of money from them. They turn a blind eye to Expat viewers providing that you don't tell them! You need a UK address in order to subscribe or you can buy a subscription with the help of one of the shops on Tenerife.

What's the smallest size dish I need?
The smallest dish is 90 cm. You will not be able to get BBC, ITV and most of the other good stuff. You will need a 3m dish to receive these channels.

Is it worth bringing my Sky box from the UK?
Sky boxes are not the best. There are boxes available on Tenerife that will give better results.

Do I need a "dialler"?
If you are a new subscriber to Sky, yes. As a new subscriber you have to keep your box connected to the phone line for your first year. Doing this in Tenerife will allow Sky to see that you are not in the UK, so you need a "Sky dialler" to hide your true number and location.

Is the signal and picture quality good?
Broadcasting of Sky to cover Tenerife is not specifically provided so any signals we can get are quite weak by comparison. With a 90cm dish you will loose signal in bad weather. Even with a 3m dish you will get picture breakup, particularly if you are using a Sky receiver. Using a good LNB with a good quality receiver and good installation will give you the best results.

I don't want a dish, so how can I get some UK telly?
You can buy (or rent) a small digi-box from one of the shops on Tenerife. This comes with a small antenna which you point towards La Gomera. With this system you can get BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, ITV4, Five, Film 4 and a couple of sports channels.

I have a PC and internet connection so can I use these to watch TV?
Yes you can. See our British IPTV page to see how easy it is.
